At the 00:45 point in this YouTube news clip they show camels in a blizzard – snowing in Saudi Arabia. 😱😱
2021-02-25 New Home Hydrogen ‘Battery’ Good For 3 Days
This was developed by the University in Australia. It seems to be two or three separate parts. It takes solar electricity and converts it to hydrogen. The H2 is stored in metal hydride ?cartridges? Then the H2 is made into electricity by fuel cells. It says that it also has a 5 kWh lithium battery to supply power while the fuel cell warms up to then make full power. So this lithium battery has a limited lifespan.
The video says it’s called LAVO.

2021-02-25 Cal. Electric Customers Getting Screwed
This new TOU (time of use) charges per kWh are costing us more, but also we’re having to pay for things that were not our fault but the fault of SCE, PG&E and SDG&E.
2021-02-25 Energy Density Lithium-ion Vs Gasoline
Pound for pound, the best lithium-ion battery available today packs 35 times less energy than gasoline. In other words, to get the same amount of energy as a gallon of gasoline, you’ll need batteries that weigh 35 times more than that gasoline.
2021-02-25 Haru Oni Synfuel Project In Southern Chile
This project will use electricity from wind to generate hydrogen which will be combined with CO2 to make synthetic fuels for German company Porsche.

2021-02-25 Set Blows Out Substitute Diodes
From FB group I take …
Alejandro Cruz
He said a diode is a diode but there are more than volts and current. The reverse recovery time is important. If it is rectifying 50 or 60 Hz AC then standard recovery time is good. If it’s rectifying high frequencies then it should be fast recovery or ultrafast recovery.
If you have substitute diodes fail, then you have something else wrong. It could be a bad filter capacitor. Or the transformer may have a problem. Or something downstream may be causing excessive current.
One thing old time troubleshooters used to do was put a 60 watt incandescent light bulb in series with the incoming AC line to limit the current. That gives a chance to measure the voltage and find out while the equipment is power limited.
2021-02-25 My HOA Won’t Allow Me To Go Solar
The fossil fuels industry has spread many false “facts” in order to stop homeowners from getting solar systems. This article gives several of them and why homeowners can get solar and save money on their electric bill. These states prevent HOAs from banning solar.
5) “My HOA won’t allow me to go solar.”
In most states today, this is false. According to DSIRE (Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency): “HOAs are barred from restricting a homeowner’s right to install solar panels. States which have laws that override any HOA contracts seeking to deny the right to install solar PV systems include: Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.”
2021-02-25 Boston U Buys Green Energy From South Dakota Wind Project
This article shows that the institution can maximize its renewable energy impact by buying renewable electricity from out of state. The Uni proves it’s a great idea.
2021-02-24 EVs Vs ICE vehicles,
From my FB reply to many negative comments by this hypercritic.
Ned Goldston
*No* EV owner needs to have a solar panel system to charge their EV with green electricity. In California there are no coal power plants and the natural gas plants are being replaced with peak shaving utility scale batteries. At times of the day the renewables may be as much as half of the electric supply. Go to caiso.com and click on the green to see the charts.
In a year or so Tesla will be dropping the price of a new EV to where the cost will be the same or less than an ICE car. The cost per mile for an EV is a fraction of a regular car — 1/5 to 1/10 according to some newsmedia but it depends on the local price of electricity and gasoline.
2021-02-24 Meat Calories In, Calories Out; Food Wasted
Gates, p.115
A chicken has to eat two calories worth of grain to give one calorie of poultry.
A pig eats three times as many calories as we vet when we eat it.
Cows have the highest ratio: 6 calories of feed for every calorie of beef.
The wealthier the people of the world get, they eat more calories, especially more meat and dairy. Producing more meat and dairy requires growing more food for the livestock.
p.121
In the US, 40 percent of food is wasted. When wasted food rots, it produces methane with warming equivalent to 3.3 billion tons of CO2 annually.
p.122 << It’s been estimated that if we couldn’t make synthetic fertilizer, the world’s population would be 40 to 50 percent smaller than it is. >>
p.124 << Finally, after the fertilizer is applied to the soil, much of the nitrogen that it contains never gets absorbed by the plant. In fact, worldwide, crops take up less than half the nitrogen applied to farm fields. The rest runs off into ground or surface waters, causing pollution, or escapes into the air in the form of nitrous oxide — which, you may recall, has 265 times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide. All told, fertilizers were responsible for roughly 1.3 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions in 2010, and the number will probably rise to 1.7 billion tons by mid-century. >>
