Eagles are being protected by a camera system with artificial intelligence called Identi-Flight that spots birds such as eagles and shuts down the wind turbine until the bird has flown away.

Eagles and other animals are threatened by bites from black flies called buffalo gnats. High rainfall causes the flies to hatch early. The huge amounts of fly bites can kill and the flies are so thick they drive the chicks out of the nest where the chicks fall to their death.

The Big 3 are not the only carmakers making hybrids. And plug-in hybrids can get thousands of miles per gallon of gasoline.

Is it even possible for those of you to see past Tesla? Here we have an EV maker that has so many backorders that it can’t fill them all in a reasonable time. Yet you all are making a huge issue out of Tesla not being favored as much as the Big 3. It’s as if you all want to stop other car companies from joining the mission that Tesla declared: to end the use of fossil fuels. And you all are totally unable to comprehend that fossil fuels are causing climate change, which will cause hundreds of millions of people to become climate refugees within a generation. And that is already beginning to happen.

Squabbling about tax credits is counter to the mission of Tesla (and the mission should be the mission of all carmakers). It’s causing delays and that’s the worst thing to do.

The objective is to win the race against climate change; not to squabble about who is in first, second or whatever place. If Tesla doesn’t stay in first place with EVs it’s not a problem with the mission!

2021-10-29 Replacing The Small ICEs With Non-Fossil Fuel Motors

While the US is on its way to replacing ICEVs – internal combustion engine vehicles – with electric vehicles, there are millions of small ICEs used for many purposes such as lawnmowers, welding generators, cement mixers, and scores of other portable applications that require independence from the electric grid.

One answer might be that these small ICEs could be converted to run with hydrogen. This eliminates the CO2 from the exhaust gases. But the combustion causes nitrogen oxides, which are also greenhouse gases. So hydrogen conversion is not totally ending greenhouse gases.

The electric motors being made for BEVs – battery electric vehicles – are capable of producing as much power as the auto engines they replace. They’re small, lightweight and getting cheaper with mass production. But the batteries needed to run them are heavy and large and have to be charged. For small ICEs of 6 or more horsepower, it would make sense to build a battery system with a capacity to run the appliance for most of the workday and charge at night. The 6 horsepower is equivalent to 4.5 kilowatts using 750 kilowatts per horsepower.

At this date, October, 2021, some stores are advertising cordless electric lawnmowers for sale. It looks like smaller gas engines will be replaced by electric motors in the next few years.

I call BS on your specious assertions. The electric grid will not have to be upgraded more than a third because the energy used by EVs is less than 1/3 of the energy of a fossil fuels car. There will no longer be drilling, refining, transporting and dispensing fossil fuels, all of which take a large amount of electricity.

No solar array, no charger is needed. The EV comes with the adapter to plug into the wall.

There will be a half million chargers installed all over the US, to add to the 100,000 already in place.

You will *not* have to depend on mass transportation! The robotaxis will allow the average car owner to go from $500 or more a month for loan, gas, insurance and maintenance to $100 to $200 for full autonomous ride hailing.

That so-called ‘valley of death’ may extend far into the future if autonomous ride hailing becomes the leading form of transportation. Remember that now cars sit 95% of the time doing nothing. If they become autonomous robotaxis then it will take less than 20% of the vehicles to do the same jobs. While you’re at work your vehicle can be out earning money transporting riders. The number of vehicles needed will be much less as long as there are plenty of autonomous vehicles.

Most people have little concept of what AI is; the myths that surround it are masking its abilities.

The ironic thing is that we see huge amounts of money go into making a computer that will emulate a human, yet there billions of humans around who could do the same job for nearly slave wages.

We have these huge networks with high bandwidth that we could put to good use. A company could set up arcades in 3rd world countries, with driving workstations for gaming consoles. The players would be earning credits redeemable as real goods, or maybe cryptocurrency. The driving stations would be driving the vehicles as an assistant to the AI program. The vehicle’s AI program would be doing the driving and sending the data realtime to the remote driver. There may be multiple drivers for the same vehicle. The AI would compare its decisions to those made by the drivers and learn from them.

The drivers would not know if their driving was real or simulated. They would not know that other drivers were driving the same vehicle. These drivers give the AI a human standard to compare itself to.

2021-10-25 Disruptive Technologies And High Risk

FB group TSLA… answer to wild speculation after TSLA stock rocketed past $1000 today.

Other than pipe dream speculation, I see only a single word that has truth to it: disrupt.

Due to its bleeding edge technology, there is no telling with certainty where the future will lie. Disruptive innovation goes along with high risk; the disruption may lead up a blind alley from where the only way out is the way that one comes in. So the pioneers must keep plenty of wampum on hand to trade with the locals in order to stay alive while crossing the deserts of technology.

I hope that all these wild assed predictions come true, but that’s not likely to happen. Some may. Some may not. In sum it will work out for better or worse. One just has to look at the abandoned industries across America to see what I’m saying.

There was this guy who sold PCs out of the trunk of his car and turned the business into a multi-Billion dollar business. But now it’s not so much known for the PCs, but for Big Iron servers in racks. Same kind of thing happened to Digital Equipment Corporation. So one can never really tell what the future holds in store.
