2020-12-20 Trump Wants GA Governor To Overturn Election
It’s difficult to understand how a president could be so corrupt as to believe he could get the governor of Georgia to disobey the laws and overturn the electors decision to change votes for Biden to votes for Trump. I would think it should be a reason to prosecute the president for trying to break the law. It could be impeachment if the senate were to be controlled by the Democrats, but most likely indictment if it is after Trump leaves office on January 20, 2021. 2020-12-20 Employers Can Bar Unvaccinated Employees
So there is one more “incentive” to be vaccinated. Let’s hope that this and public educational institutions requiring vaccination will bring up the percentage of vaccinations to well above the herd immunity level.
I would assume — and expect — that vaccination exceptions would have to be signed by a doctor. Also I would expect that the vaccinations would have an expiration date, probably one year after the vaccination.

2020-12-19 Tesla Should Buy Ford
This article discusses the reasons behind the author’s opinion. He says Ford has factories worldwide. He also believes the Ford heirs would not allow it.
I think that Tesla would benefit from a deal with Ford for distributing Tesla cars. The author talks about acquiring Ford’s manufacturing facilities. But Tesla is already manufacturing cars in Shanghai, the Gigafactory in Berlin is well on its way to be making cars by the end of next year, and Tesla is building the Gigafactory in Austin, TX to build cars and trucks maybe by the end of next year. Tesla built 500,000 cars this year and I heard maybe 800,000 or more in 2021. Tesla’s assembly lines are highly automated – like 75%, and I would think that Tesla would probably have to rebuild the Ford plants if they acquired them. But Ford could be a parts and subassembly maker for any car maker.

2020-12-19 Talking Heads Saying Nothing Important
It’s easier to listen to others argue about molehills and get your jollies from taking sides… It’s easier than to look at both sides rationally and objectively and make the correct decision. Therefore we have nearly half the US voters staying ignorant, or worse yet, becoming misinformed, which is another way of saying brainwashed. If you can’t handle making sense out of the confusing issues and making a decision that’s rational, then you should not be in politics, you should be into sports where there are winners and losers and millions of spectators.

A number of people have asked me my thoughts on the coronavirus vaccines. Well, here I am this morning getting the first of my Pfizer shot series.
Warning, wall of text to follow. This is my opinion, take it or leave it as you will.
The science behind the mRNA vaccines is brilliant, IMO. The shots have few components. A strand of m(essenger) RNA which codes for a spike protein found on the outside of the coronavirus, several fat molecules to get that mRNA into some of our cells, and some harmless salts and sugars – plain old sodium chloride, potassium salts, and sucrose. So MRNA, fat, salt, and sugar. That’s it. The mRNA gets into a few cells, and gets their protein synthesis apparatus to make the spike protein. The spike protein gets detected by your body which mounts an immune response to it. Now your body knows in advance how to fight coronavirus due to the vaccine mediated immune response to the same spike protein. You are protected.
What does this mean regarding risks? It is true no vaccine has ever been developed so quickly and the safety trials have only been a few months long. But… by design, there is no reason for me to believe this vaccine will have negative long term effects. Why? The components. They don’t last in your body. The salts and fats are nothing new and long term harmless. I suspect the couple of allergic reactions popping up shortly after vaccination are to one of the fat molecules used. These have been easily treated to date. The mRNA is a set of instructions used by your cells and then dissipated. It doesn’t get into your dna so won’t replicate into future cells in your body. So all that’s left is your body’s own immune response and memory of that response. You have a protective response to the virus without ever having had CoVID.
Are there still questions? Of course. To me by far the biggest one is how long the immunity will last. I have no good reason to believe the vaccine is dangerous. I have good reason to believe it will help. I thank the 60,000 volunteers who participated in the phase 3 trials and the brilliant minds who developed these vaccines for their service to humanity.
The decision then comes down to the risk vs the benefit. Those of you who are fellow health care workers have seen with me what COVID can do. 300,000+ dead so far, 1 in 1000 Americans. Respiratory failure. Strokes. Myocarditis leading to fatal arrhythmias and cardiomyopathy. Pulmonary embolisms. Thromboembolic disease. Strangely ITP too – low platelet counts like 6k I have now seen twice from covid. Many of our colleagues ill, some hospitalized, some dead. And long COVID – clearly many are not recovered now months later, with little idea whether lifelong health consequences await. Meanwhile our treatments offer marginal outcome improvements from steroids, oxygen, and a couple of experimental drugs.
Our government and society have utterly failed in controlling the disease through public health measures. Odds are astronomical [very high] that you will eventually get CoVID19 if you do anything but live the life of a shut in.
When I look at this, the risks from CoVID far outweigh the risks of what unknowns remain regarding these vaccines. If you’ve had CoVID recently, you could wait to see how things play out for a bit since you have some temporary immunity. And science will continue to refine these vaccines and create new options.
I’d recommend getting the vaccine. I got it myself today. And I plan to get it for my daughters (13 and 12) as soon as it’s possible.
You will all make your own choice, but I hope you will put your trust in science as I have chosen to do. Our future depends on not only the vaccines working but our collective willingness to take part.

2020-12-18 Alternator Charges Battery
This setup just charges the battery as long as the resistor is connected to the field coil. There is no regulation of the charge and it can overcharge the battery. To properly regulate the charging, the alternator should have a regulator instead of the resistor. The regulator will shut off the charging when the battery is fully charged.
The alternator’s metal body is connected to the battery negative with a heavy wire. The alternator’s large, high current terminal (it might be red) is connected to the battery positive with a heavy wire that can handle high current. The pulley of the alternator is connected with a belt to the engine to turn it. To activate the field coil of the alternator a resistor of about 33 ohms is connected from the battery positive to one of the alternator’s smaller terminals. When the right terminal is getting current from the positive, through the resistor to the alternator’s field coil, the alternator will get hard to turn and will put a load on the engine and the high current from the alternator’s positive will charge the battery. The 33 ohm resistor will let about 1/2 amp flow through the field coil. That may be enough for a slow charge. If the engine is powerful like a car engine then the resistor might be lower, maybe 16 ohms. The field current will then be about 1 amp and the alternator will be a heavier load on the engine. A typical alternator may put out about 35 amps continuously, maybe more for a short time. For the best monitoring of the charging current, the heavy wire from the alternator to the battery should go through a zero to 50 amp ammeter.

This article tells some of the countries that have banned Huawei. In India’s case it seems to be caused by the border dispute with China. Canada is allowing Huawei, which I find rather odd.
