The Black Lives Matter protesters march when a black person is killed by the police. Why are many people, among them blacks, killed by police? Because they are brandishing a gun, and the cop is never going to give the brandisher the chance to fire that gun!

So should the cop be blamed solely for the death of the gunman? The cop shot him but the cop would not have had to shoot him if he was not brandishing a gun. If the gunman did not have the gun he would not be dead.

So the protesters should be protesting in front of the district attorney’s office for not doing enough to get guns off the street and out of the hands of felons. If more was done to get rid of guns in the hands of criminals, there would be far fewer gunmen being killed by police.

Prop AA on the ballot was not passed.

I see that the doom-and-gloom naysayers got their way and Prop. AA was not passed by a large margin. So now is there going to be another chapter in the book for what is going to happen with this property?

Think about this: Should the citizens of the city of Orange and V.P. put a proposition on the ballot for a bond paid off over ten years, with the bond money going to but the property and turn it into what it should be? It should be a wetlands wildlife habitat. It should be used for groundwater replenishment, like the lakes next to Collins & Prospect. It should have lots of trees and some recreational areas and trails. All of these would benefit the area and would have no adverse effects on traffic. I think it would be a good idea.

Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and Jesus silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.

A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.

A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended.”

The first and most important takeaway is that liberals, conservatives and any others should never mock (make fun of) their fellow men. If you have concluded that your claims have offended anyone, then your claims are offensive and you should not try to make someone the butt of your mocking (fun making).

1. A liberal, conservative or anyone else with any common sense wants to end the tens of thousands of gun-related deaths every year in the US. The other civilized countries in the world have already done this by enacting comprehensive gun laws. The Second Amendment has been used (abused) by gun rights advocates to prevent gun laws from being enacted and so the annual US gun deaths have remained much higher than other countries.

2. Says, “Liberals want all meat products banned.”

This would be considered absurd. It’s unfortunate that in the next hundred years the world population will grow to 9 billion or more and the amount of food we grow will not be enough. Growing the food to feed the livestock that we use for meat and dairy products uses too much of the farmland so the first food that we on the Earth will have to sacrifice is meat.

3. The CoVID19 pandemic has shown all the world that when something very bad happens, the average person is helpless to “find a way to better his situation.” One can’t find a job when the economy has no jobs.

During the Great Depression there was no welfare and people had no money, they went hungry. Today there are welfare programs and unemployment benefits. Before this pandemic almost all of the downturns in the economy were caused by the economic system itself. If the system was not so easy to upset, the people would not need to have welfare and benefits.

In order to make decisions, Liberals, Conservatives and everyone else have to be truthfully informed about politics and social issues that affect the general public. It was, and should be the responsibility of the newsmedia to inform their viewers and readers with accurate and truthful information. Newsmedia has failed in doing this and social media is making attempts to prevent false news from spreading through their private systems. It used to be that newsmedia that used the public airwaves (broadcasting), as part of their 5-year license, had to prove that they were a positive asset to their community. With private cable systems and the internet, this seemed to be no longer needed. Therefore the FCC decided to free the airwaves from their civic responsibilities. We should make this system apply equally to all forms of media, not just airwaves. Stop lies for profit!

5. The framers of the Constitution had to form a government that included all religious sects because some of the 13 original states were founded by religious sectarians such as the Quakers. This religious neutrality continues today by keeping religious sects from dominating the United States. There are other religions which do not have a judeo-christian god, such as Buddhism or Hinduism. Thus our political system should accommodate all equally.

6. All the other civilized countries have changed their healthcare to a system that provides healthcare to their citizens and is paid for by the government. US healthcare (insurance) is the most expensive in the world, and we have poorer quality healthcare than other civilized countries.

7. It’s a very poor quality person who must have fun at the expense of other people. We should never use anyone like this as an example for our children to emulate.

The Republicans and Trump use a technique much like what the con artist uses. They make a list of people that have the opinion that they’ve been let down by the rest of society. This list they prioritize on which groups of people that are the most important. Then they analyze each group to find out what the promise they can make to them to get them to vote for Republicans. For instance, with the coal miners they promised to bring back coal, but coal is never going to be brought back due to economic reasons. The Republicans know this, but they know that giving hope to some group of people with promises will get votes even though the promises will never be fulfilled. This is just like a street corner gambler, who promises the sucker will win big money, knowing full well that he’s going to take every last penny from the sucker. It’s sort of like Las Vegas, where all the glitz and glamor attracts a lot of people with the promise of making a lot of money, but they don’t get rich in Las Vegas from letting people win. Somebody has to lose, and we all know who they are.

Some of the groups that they promised to are:

Pro-lifers – Who want to eliminate Roe V Wade. They want to go back to the times when illegal abortions were killing two instead of one.

Anti-gay marriage – The equal rights laws have been applied to prohibit laws discriminating against gay marriage. The religious groups still hold that gay marriage is evil.

Evangelical Christians – the Religious Right – who want someone who promises that they’re going to receive a better life.

The coal miners, which I have already mentioned. If we keep on burning coal the whole world will be unlivable.

The anti-immigration group – the Nationalists. They’re the ones that seem to think that the illegal immigrants have stolen the workers’ jobs and want to stop illegals. But the anti-immigrationists have waited until it’s too late, and they’re trying to close the gate after all the cows have got out. There are 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States, and it’s going to be a very very long time before they ever deport even a small fraction of them. It’s the biggest whack-a-mole game in the world: for everyone they deport, four more come in. As long as there are corruption and drug cartels south of the border, there are going to be illegals who want to come to the US. The only way to stop them is to fix the injustices south of the border.

The smallest group of suckers, but are far overrepresented by the amount of money they spend are the wealthy. They spend hundreds of millions of dollars on each election to try to influence voters. They’re the ones who pay lots of money to the superPACs to hide where the ‘dark money’ is coming from. Why they try to hide the money is because they are guilty of giving their money away to influence peddling. More like they _are_ guilty of graft and corruption.

Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse brought this up in the hearing to confirm Judge Coney Barrett. The dark money goes to lawyers who write up Amicus briefs that are reviewed by the courts. These amicus briefs strongly favor the side from where the dark money is coming from. These amicus briefs are a way of peddling influence on the court system.

Another group of people plagued by FUD (fear, uncertainty,doubt) are the Second Amendment Gun Rights advocates. They’re so deathly afraid that the “left wing extremists” are going to take away their gun rights that they will lie, they’ll tell you all sorts of extreme tales to make you fear that the second amendment is being abolished. I think that the main way the NRA gets people to pay their membership dues is to use scare tactics to cause Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt in their members.

Another group of people who are quite common are the anti-big government folks. They’re afraid that the bigger the government gets, the higher their taxes will be. Actually government isn’t the problem. The problem is that some branches of government are not big enough so the IRS, for example, doesn’t have enough manpower to collect billions of dollars in unpaid taxes. Tax cheats are getting away with billions of dollars. Meanwhile we have wasted three trillion dollars in a pointless war in the Middle East, which just keeps soaking up money like a sponge. Fossil fuels are on a decline — and it’s time we get out of the Middle East — they have never wanted us there to begin with. We would be better off if we dropped leaflets over the country offering bounties on the heads of the dictators and Taliban leaders who are causing problems.

There must be other groups whom I have not included. Which? The Republicans demonize the ‘Left’ or ‘Liberals’ as if they are going to turn the US into the Soviet Socialists. Obviously that is not going to happen.

There were recent articles about the concern that Antarctic ice shelves may break off and cause sea levels to rise. This news item is about one that is the size of Delaware that has already broken off and is floating towards the Island of Georgia and may collide with it, endangering seals and penguins.

The Thwaites ice shelf is the size of Florida and the researchers said that it is being melted by warmer seawater. If it breaks off and melts it could raise sea levels as much as two feet or 25 inches. This is just one of several ice shelves that could raise the ocean levels by up to 6 feet or 2 meters.

The higher sea levels would mean low lying populated areas could become flooded or uninhabitable. The storms could cause more damage due to high tides.

During the depression, people couldn’t afford to buy gasoline. The US government produced a document on how to run your car using wood as fuel. This was done by burning wood in an oxygen starved container so that it produced carbon monoxide, which could be piped to the carburetor and used to run the engine. It was a homemade setup but it worked.

Later, maybe in the 1960s, someone made firewood logs by rolling newspaper into rolls. They burned slowly enough to make heat like firewood.

My ex-coworker in Kansas posted photos of her firewood and it gave me an idea. They have tone of leaves from trees and I think the leaves could be rolled up into logs by using newspaper sheets to roll up and hold the leaves in tight rolls. The leaves are dry and should burn okay, and the newspaper goes up in flames along with the leaves. If the rolls are tight they should burn slow enough to make heat and not big flames. This seems to be a good way to use a renewable resource instead of filling up the landfill.
