This is the comment I left in Big Clive’s channel video.
“I think this shunting current away from the LEDs is deceptive and fraudulent. They should be required to tell this in the instructions. In the US there are regulations governing vampire devices such as the AC adapters and their efficiency levels. Since they’re on 24 / 7, they consume a huge amount of power even though the equipment that they power is turned off. These night lights are no different, they’re stealing a watt and wasting power heating up those two 1 watt resistors. These lights should be included in the efficiency regulations for the same reasons that the regulations were made for: these lights are vampire devices just like wall warts.
