This coming week marks the 9th year since the Fukushima Dai Ichi nuclear disasters.
I keep hearing that all the deaths due to nuclear power plants add up to just a 2 digit number. But it’s not that simple – the nuclear apologists try to understate the deaths and damage done. I don’t think that this is fair to make these claims and bamboozle the public. The amount of damage done to the environment is much greater. Here is an article about cancer caused by nuclear radiation. They estimate a hundred times as many cancer deaths.
I quote:
“The best estimates we have predict that Chernobyl could eventually result in up to around 4000 cancer deaths in the 600,000 people exposed to the highest levels of radiation, mostly the people involved in the recovery and clean-up work, who received very high doses.”
