This is a 35 minute YouTube video on nuclear fusion. It’s a narration but the graphics don’t match up with the narration. I give it a grade of C minus.
Quote “”The ITER reactor is designed generate to 500 Megawatts of fusion power for at least 400 seconds, achieving a ten-fold gain in plasma heating power.””
“”With an estimated cost of around 20 billion dollars… is set for completion by 2025…”” Notice the two weasel words: estimated and around.
The problem is that they have been trying to get nuclear fusion experiments to produce more power than they consume, but they have not been successful, and this has been going on for a half century or more, with an incredibly large amount of money having been spent. This has been the ultimate demonstration of the definition of insanity – they keep repeating the same things again and again, expecting different results. Meanwhile the solar photovoltaic industry has dropped the costs of solar panels to where anyone can get a rooftop solar system installed and get electric power generated by thermonuclear fusion, from the sun.
