2024-03-20 EV Myth Debunked, Buried

There is the constant criticism fueled(!) by the Big Oil and fossil fuels industries that EVs – electric vehicles – are going to overload the grid.  But this myth has been proven false by the latest statistics.  The amount of electricity on the grid went down 1% according to the figures from the EIA.

Furthermore, EVs are usually charged after midnight when the grid is under the least amount of demand and electricity is the cheapest.  So the EV’s demand on the grid is minimal.  If your EV can do bidirectional charging, then in the daytime when demand is highest and electricity is the most expensive, the EV can supply some of the electricity back to the grid and you can make money.

The best thing about bidirectional charging is V2G – vehicle to grid.  Your EV can become a part of a VPP – virtual power plant – and sell electricity back to the grid during peak periods, and earn you money.  This could be a lot of money earned during a heat wave – as much as $8000.00 a year.

This Just Have A Think YouTube video explains why.
