Sabine talks about new nuclear power plants, in a 7 minute YouTube video. My comment, quote:
I have seen so much backlash about new nuclear power. Not just from the NIMBYs and anti-nukes, but from those who say that the only way that the world can have reliable power is by building nuclear power plants. These pro-nukes are knuckleheads who can’t face reality. Solar and wind plus storage are already the cheapest new power.
What I object to is forcing the nuclear power utilities to insure nukes using taxpayers’ money. There would never be nuclear plants if the companies involved had to carry the total responsibility for insuring nuclear plants by themselves.
The nuclear power sector will fade away as old plants are decommissioned and new nukes remain like they are now: having multi-billion dollar cost overruns and decade long construction delays. Utilities will ignore new nukes and instead build new wind, solar and storage.
The writing is on the walls of every country. Any pundit who continues to support new nuclear will just be wasting their time – they might as well be talking to those walls; they will be ignored.
