The world has a much more dangerous greenhouse gas than CO2 – it’s methane, also known as natural gas. And huge amounts are locked up in the environment, and may be released by global warming.

I’ve read the numbers 24 times, 28 times, 31 times, all around those numbers. The actual number is much higher but methane is broken down in the atmosphere, so its net effect is around 30 times. It’s not 84 times.
Methane is a big problem nonetheless. It’s the reason why all unused oil wells must be capped. All cows belch methane and there needs to be a solution to that problem. All leaks in the gas supply system need to be fixed. And this is only the tip of the iceberg. Under the oceans, under the permafrost, under the frozen lakes, there are millions of tons of methane that may be released into the atmosphere due to global warming. These are the major greenhouse gas problems.
