On July 1, 2020 I deleted the FB app from my cellphone and I didn’t do FB until Oct 10, and for those 3 months I really didn’t miss it. The reason why I put it back on was because I wanted to find out what the others were fighting about before the elections.
Then a week ago I read an article that said FB was having a period of stagnation where people were not spending as much time on FB and the governments were after them for being anticompetitive. This week the states and FTC announced that they were suing FB to divest Instagram and Whatsapp. Doesn’t affect me. And I was very happy to see that the Russians couldn’t use FB to influence the election like they did in 2016. But FB still has major problems with the fraudulent accounts and other deceitful activities.
I have seen a deterioration of quality in the groups I’m in. The person who started the group probably had to spend too much time moderating the group so he just gave up and the others have abused the system – spam, and a lot of people who just look for free help, they want to take but not give – not contribute. I saw that long ago but it seems worse now.
