Last week I went to unplug the second Duracell charger, and one of the power plug blades pulled out and remained in the wall socket. A year or so ago I bought a package of two of these chargers and soon after the first one failed. I blogged it and filled out a report of it on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website.
This time, the bare metal plug was sticking out of the socket and it again posed a fire and safety hazard. I looked at the case around the missing blade and found that the case had three cracks radiating from the missing pin, one of which was between it and the remaining pin. Another crack was radiating out from the screw, at the top of the picture.
Two out of two of these Duracell chargers have now failed, for a 100% failure rate. I hope Gillete doesn’t make their shavers like this! Someone could be in for a shocking experience!
I don’t intend to follow up with another report because I checked later, and I don’t think anything was done with my original report. But this is important because everyone uses chargers nowadays.
