When it comes to generating power, there is only one factor that counts: cost per kWh. Renewables plus storage cost less than any conventional power and the cost is still going down. Those fossil fuel and nuclear power plants are unable to lower their costs and are being (and will be) declared stranded assets and taken out of service and decommissioned. End of story.
BTW nuclear fusion is a dead end. There is an unlimited supply of deuterium, but there is only enough tritium in the whole world to run a single tokamak for a fraction of a year, and no way to generate enough tritium in the future. Dead end.
