The trillion ton A68 iceberg broke off of the antarctic ice shelf in 2017 and has been floating around down there since, slowly melting. This is the one they said was the size of Delaware. The Brits are studying it to see what effects it’s having on the wildlife.
The Thwaites Ice Shelf is being melted underneath and it is the size of Florida. They calculate that if it breaks off and melts it could raise the sea level by 25 inches or 0.6 meters. The same melting is happening with the Arctic and Greenland.
