But the water used to mine a kg of lithium is only used once. They also complain about the water or other materials used to make wind turbines. That water is used only once.<\/p>\n<p>But every kWh of electricity used takes 15 gallons of water. And here is the major difference: it never stops! The thermoelectric (coal, gas, nuclear) power plants continuously use a staggeringly huge amount of water, 41% of the total withdrawals!! Over a hundred billion gallons per day!
