Incoming power is rectified to keep the battery bank charged.  It&#8217;s passed through to the equipment, until it drops out, when the battery banks take over.  So what this is, is a UPS.  But there is no interruption in the outgoing power.  It is switched electronically, which happens in a fraction of a cycle.<\/p>\n<p>COs have massive 48VDC batteries, so should they be used to full advantage?  They can handle thousands of amps.
