I downloaded the free ElectroDroid app for my Samsung GS4 phone and I’ve been using it to do some simple calculations. It has various calculators, such as battery life; resistor, inductor and capacitor calculators, including resonance; LED resistor calculator; IR drop calculator for wiring and several other calculators. It also has the pinouts for many different connectors.<\/p>\n
I have tried several of the above calculators and found them to be useful, with a few minor quirks here and there. I have just barely tried a few of the many features it offers. I can’t say anything negative about this app, and the price can’t be beat. Those experimenters out should try it and see if it proves useful.<\/p>\n
There are many other tools in this app. One calculates the resistors for the LM317 adjustable voltage regulator. Another calculates R and C values for the 555 timer chip. Ohm’s Law, capacitor charge\/discharge, and many more are available. Try it out!<\/p>\n
Two other apps I have installed are a sound level meter and an electromagnetic field meter, both free. I haven’t had the time to give them a good workout, so I can’t say anything pro or con about them. I’ll have to leave them for a future blog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
